20th Century Fox Home Entertainment showed parts of the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs Blu-ray Disc to its intended audience — a crowd of parents and their children — as part of a media event at the Fox Studios Lot Oct. 22.

Mary Daily, EVP of marketing for Fox Home Entertainment, along with director Carlos Saldanha showed such elements as the Blu-ray’s storybook feature, in which users can take snapshots of scenes from the film and pick phrases to create a story, as well as the disc’s IMDb.com Live Lookup feature. The IMDb feature allows users to click on the film’s characters and learn about the voice actor’s other credits, such as the weasel Buck, played by Hot Fuzz’s Simon Pegg.

After the screening, animator Eric Favela showed kids in attendance how to draw the character Scrat using sidewalk chalk. Rough sketches of the characters can be seen on the Blu-ray Disc’s extras such as the “From Easel to Weasel” featurette on the creation of Buck.

The third “Ice Age” installment comes out Oct. 27 in a three-disc set including DVD, Blu-ray and digital copy at $39.99. The title also will be available on DVD at $29.98 and a double-DVD set with second feature The Scrat Pack at $34.98.
