Thomson’s Technicolor Services Division has launched four new Blu-ray Disc BD-50 and BD-25 lines at its plant in Piaseczno/Warsaw, Poland, in addition to a comprehensive Blu-ray mastering suite.
These are Technicolor’s first European Blu-ray production lines. However, they’re big enough to make the company the second-largest Blu-ray manufacturer in Europe.
“Our U.S. colleagues have developed a strong expertise in the manufacturing of Blu-ray Discs since 2006, and we have benefited greatly from their expertise in establishing European-based Blu-ray capability, giving us the opportunity to better serve our customers here in Europe,” said Robert Sweet, SVP of Technicolor Home Entertainment Services Europe. “This significant investment in Blu-ray mastering and replication capacity will allow us to deliver this new format with maximum flexibility and efficiency for our key customers in Europe.”
