Veteran Blockbuster Spokesperson Departs

Randy Hargrove, senior director of corporate communications for Blockbuster Inc., has left the company to pursue other interests.

Michelle Metzger, VP and GM of Pierpont Communications, a Texas-based public relations firm recently contracted by Dallas-based Blockbuster, confirmed Hargrove’s departure earlier this month.

Pierpont has offices in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin.

Metzger said Hargrove’s exit was not result of internal downsizing, but rather a desire by the No. 1 DVD rental company to pursue PR in a different direction.

Hargrove, who joined Blockbuster in 1999, had become the company’s top media representative following the departure of veteran spokesperson Karen Raskopf in May.
