16 Nov, 2012 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Three movies or video games for three days for $9.99

Blockbuster LLC Nov. 16 said beginning Nov. 20 consumers can rent three movies or video games for three days for $9.99, and purchase select new movies and games for 99 cents.

Dubbed “early” Black Friday specials, Englewood, Colo.-based Blockbuster is giving a free $5 gift card with purchase of $25 worth of Blockbuster gift cards, a third free video game with the purchase of two used games, and up to 50% off box sets such as Transformers Trilogy, Will Ferrell Collection and "Boss-Season One," among others.

Blockbuster, which is owned by Dish Network, will also offer membership discounts of a half-priced six-month Kids Pass or a six-month Blue Ticket membership with one month free. The Kids Pass gives unlimited in-store rentals on movies in the kids and family section, regularly priced at $4.99 a month.

The Blue Ticket membership offers unlimited rentals on anything in the store, one item at a time. Additional terms and conditions may apply; see store associate for details. The offers run from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26.

“With the added stress around the holidays, it’s important to give Blockbuster customers the opportunity to spend time relaxing with a movie or three over the long Thanksgiving weekend,” said Blockbuster president Michael Kelly in a statement. “That’s why we came up with our three-for-three-for-$9.99 deal. You can come in once, find something for everyone and spend the holiday weekend curled up watching movies with your family.”
