Blockbuster Bows Summer Rental Road Map

10 Jun, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Blockbuster Inc. has launched an interactive road map that allows users to find Blockbuster store locations anywhere in the country, in addition to state-by-state movie trivia regarding movie set locations.

Visitors to the Web site, www.blockbuster.com/roadtrip, can check out scenic locales used as sets on notable movies, including rural Maine (The Spitfire Grill), the mountains of North Carolina (Cold Mountain), Arizona (3:10 to Yuma) and Napa Valley, California (Bottle Shock).

Trips to the heartland include states like Iowa (The Bridges of Madison County) and Indiana (Hoosiers and Breaking Away). Movies set or made in all 48 states of the continental United States, plus the District of Columbia, are included.

The site can help movie lovers find the haunted Colorado hotel featured in The Shining; Martha's Vineyard, where the original Jaws was filmed; Connecticut locations for Revolutionary Road; and Massachusetts sites from the film The Witches of Eastwick.

Through a partnership with Flickr.com, Blockbuster members can upload travel pictures and video at www.flickr.com/groups/movieroadtrip. Submissions could include Katz's Delicatessen in New York from When Harry Met Sally or Platform 9 3/4 in London from the “Harry Potter” movies.

“The Blockbuster Road Trip gives our customers the chance to be an armchair traveler this summer,” said Bob Barr, VP and GM for Blockbuster.com.
