Quantum of Solace

Best Buy Co. is offering the March 24 widescreen Blu-ray release of Quantum of Solace free with the $299.99 purchase of the Samsung BD-P1600 BD player.

Best Buy, with more than 800 titles available online and in stores, is reportedly the largest retailer of Blu-ray content.

The offer (bestbuy.com/bondoffer), announced in the Minneapolis-based consumer electronics retailer’s weekly circular, also allows consumers to receive a $10 discount on a second James Bond title from a selection of 12 BD releases from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

They include: For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball (both also available in widescreen), Live and Let Die, The World is Not Enough, Goldfinger, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Die Another Day, Moonraker and Never Say Never Again.

The offer, which does not apply to separate Bond boxed set releases, also does not include the 1967 original Casino Royale or its 2006 remake (from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) that introduced Daniel Craig as Agent 007.

The Samsung player features BD Live functionality, in addition to Netflix streaming and Pandora music downloads (with separate subscriptions).

Best Buy also is offering an exclusive Blu-ray three-pack of Quantum of Solace and earlier Bond films Licence to Kill and The Man With the Golden Gun. The latter two titles will not be available individually until May 12.
