Best Buy Offers Connected Blu-ray Player for $851 Nov, 2010 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Best Buy Co. is selling the Insignia Blu-ray Disc player (NS-BRDVD4) for $84.99, one of the lowest nationally advertised prices for an Internet-connected disc device. The price is just $7 higher than what Walmart continues to sell the non-connected Magnavox Blu-ray player (NB530MGX) for.
The Insignia player, which is part of Best Buy’s line of proprietary OEM consumer electronics products, includes access to CinemaNow transactional video-on-demand (VOD) movies, Netflix streaming and Pandora music.
Best Buy, along with other national retailers, is ramping up fourth quarter marketing efforts before Black Friday, the traditional day-after Thanksgiving period when retailers lure holiday shoppers with special deals and pricing.
