Best Buy Offers Blu-ray Disc Player and Movie for $100

Best Buy Co. is offering its proprietary Insignia model Blu-ray Disc player (NS-BRDVD3) for $99.99, which includes the choice of either Superman Returns or Beetlejuice on Blu-ray.
The Minneapolis-based No. 1 CE retailer is pulling out the stops pushing Blu-ray hardware and software this holiday season, including reorganizing in-store signage and displays, in addition to offering BD titles from $8.99.
With about 10 days remaining before the launch of post-Thanksgiving Black Friday deals, retailers have upped teasers for earlier discounts on Blu-ray Disc players and movies.
Kmart is offering select catalog Blu-ray movies for $8.99, including Wedding Crashers, V for Vendetta and Constantine, and DVDs from $3.99.
Sam’s Club, the membership store owned by Wal-Mart, is offering a JVC Blu-ray player for $129. Target, which last week offered a Memorex Blu-ray player for $99.99, is offering a $20 gift card with the purchase of the Sony BD-1600A player for $149.
“We promised amazing savings each week in November and December and will deliver on that promise for our customers,” said Gary Severson, SVP of entertainment, with Wal-Mart. “Shoppers who want to get a jump start this weekend can find values in entertainment they would expect to see after Thanksgiving Day.”
