‘Awkward.’ First-Season Set for Release Through DVD-on-Demand Service

3 Nov, 2011

The first season of MTV’s new show “Awkward.” will come to DVD exclusively through CreateSpace’s DVD-on-Demand platform Nov. 14.

The two-disc set includes all 12 episodes, in addition to bonus features such as webisodes, behind-the-scenes tours and cast interviews.

“Awkward.” follows main character Jenna’s life after an accident, as she navigates though the daily drama of being a teenager — and the humorous highs and devastating lows that come during these formative years.

The show stars Ashley Rickards (“One Tree Hill”) as Jenna; Beau Mirchoff (“Desperate Housewives”) as Matty; Molly Tarlov (“iCarly”) as Sadie; Jillian Rose Reed (“Weeds”) as Tamara; Brett Davern (“Junk”) as Jake; Nikki DeLoach (“Love and Other Drugs”) as Lacey; Desi Lydic (“Traffic Light”) as Valerie; Jessica Lu (“CSI”) as Ming; Mike Faiola (“Seeing Other People”) as Kevin; and Greer Grammer (“iCarly”) as Lissa.

MTV’s highest-rated scripted show to premiere in the last two years, “Awkward.” is the top show in its timeslot among females 12 to 34. “Awkward.” will return for a second season in 2012.

“‘Awkward.’ has created fans around the globe, and we’re happy that MTV chose CreateSpace to release this popular series on DVD for the first time,” said Libby Johnson McKee, managing director of CreateSpace. “Because CreateSpace is an on-demand distribution platform, this title will never be out of stock and customers will always be able to catch the series on high-quality DVD.”

CreateSpace, a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc., also distributes content through Amazon.com and other channels, including Amazon Instant Video.
