Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s “Breaking Bad” series took home the Entertainment Merchants Association’s Digi Award for best digital entertainment content Oct. 3.
The annual awards recognize the best retailers, innovators and movies or TV shows to find success in the digital delivery environment. “Breaking Bad” won the award for being tops in giving consumers the best digital experience, EMA announced.
Microsoft’s Xbox Video was awarded best Digital Retailer, a nod to the services growth in the digital marketplace this past year. Microsoft also won the Innovation “Digi” Award for its unique Xbox The Amazing Spider-Man movie ticket offer, where Xbox Live Rewards members got $10 off to see the new film in theaters, when they rented any previous “Spider-Man” film via Zune.
Google was awarded the Leadership Digi Award, for its supply chain team participation in EMA’s digital supply chain initiatives.
“The digital entertainment business is growing at a tremendous pace and will continue to grow so as long as it provides compelling content, positive retailing experiences, and consumer-friendly business practices,” said EMA president and CEO Bo Andersen. “The Digi Awards recognize those outstanding companies that are setting the standard in each of these areas and thus contributing significantly to the success of the digital entertainment market.”
