Starz LLC Nov. 6 said third-quarter (ended Sept. 30) home entertainment revenue grew 20% to $65.6 million from $54.7 million during the previous-year period.
The growth in revenue was primarily a result of increased revenue from Anchor Bay Home Entertainment distribution of The Weinstein Co. titles, various Starz Original series titles and AMC's "The Walking Dead," among others.
Through the first nine months of the year, home video net sales are up 81% to $241.8 million, compared with $133.3 million last year.
Home entertainment remains a profitable segment, as home video cost of sales in the quarter increased 12% to $21.3 million from $19 million last year. Through Sept. 30, home video content costs rose 28% to $51.5 million, compared with $40.2 million last year.
