Fitness veteran Billy Blanks is a whirlwind of kicks and punches, made famous from his Tae Bo style of fitness that he created and popularized.
In this latest release, Blanks takes his original Tae Bo moves and signature energetic style for a fresh new workout.
The 60-minute workout entails a nonstop martial arts-based cardio workout with punches, kicks and combination moves.
His moves are simple and repetitive, which isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s fairly easy to follow, but still a challenge to keep up with the rigorous workout. If you’re uncoordinated or forgetful (like me), combinations with lots of steps can sometimes be a challenge. If you’ve had that problem with past Blanks DVDs, you might also here too for one of the combinations at the end.
Blanks’ exercise crew varies in level, age and includes men as well as women. (He wants to make a point that cardio isn’t just for ladies; men need it too.) So looking at the people behind him, any viewer should be able to find someone with whom to identify with or to challenge them.
And Blanks maintains his usual encouraging motivation and descriptive instruction to help keep you going.
The DVD itself is basic and straightforward. There aren’t different settings to mess with or workouts to customize or audio to change. Again, not a bad thing. You just pop it in and start sweating.
