Latest app combines with iPad app bowed during the summer

Amazon Dec. 13 launched an app for the iPhone and iPod touch that allows users to access transactional video-on-demand movies as well as Prime Instant SVOD content.

The Amazon Instant Video App makes more than 30,000 titles from Prime Instant Video available to Prime subscribers, including TV shows like “American Horror Story,” “Downton Abbey” and “Fringe,” as well as movies such as Hugo, Thor and Goodfellas, to stream on their iPhone or iPod touch.

Amazon Instant Video, allows anyone (no subscription required) to rent digital new releases in a 48-hour window, including The Dark Knight Rises, Brave and The Amazing Spider-Man (from $3.99 each) and the latest episodes (from $1.99 each) from TV series “The Walking Dead,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “The Vampire Diaries,” among others.

App features include, “Your Watchlist,” that lets users make a list of all the movies and TV episodes they want to watch in the future, regardless of whether they own the video or not, making it easy to keep track of specific videos for later viewing. The “Your Video Library” feature allows iPhone and iPod touch users access to purchases and rentals from Amazon Instant Video on the Web.

Amazon announced the Amazon Instant Video app for iPad earlier this year. With the latest launch, Amazon Instant Video now is available across all of Apple’s iOS mobile devices.

“Our customers tell us they want the convenience of being able to watch all of their movies and TV episodes, wherever they are,” Anthony Bay, VP of Amazon Video, said in a statement. “Today we’re excited to extend our ‘buy once, enjoy everywhere’ approach to iPhone and iPod touch users, giving customers the chance to enjoy more than 140,000 titles from Amazon Instant Video and more than 30,000 titles from Prime Instant Video anytime, anywhere.”
