With the debut of the final season of “Lost” on DVD and Blu-ray Aug. 24, only Best Buy made a spectacle out of it.

In the ever-shrinking DVD section of its weekly ad circular, Best Buy devoted a half page to “Lost” products, including the sixth season on disc, a complete series set, T-shirts for $9.99 each and discounts of previous seasons sets of the series.

Best Buy offered season-six sets with an exclusive bonus disc containing 20 minutes of extras.

The third season of “Gossip Girl” also drew some attention on disc. Best Buy offered a bonus bracelet with the DVD set, while Target gave customers a $5 gift card.

Walmart limited its exclusive offerings to a special two-pack of new-release The Back-Up Plan with another Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy, The Wedding Planner. A store in Long Beach offered the two-pack at the same price as the standalone Back-Up Plan DVD, making for quite a bargain.

Walmart also introduced a new theme to its $7.50 catalog section, dubbing the films as part of a “Celebrity Series” tied to a particular star.
