Savings on Studio Siblings22 Mar, 2011 By: John Latchem
A common promotional technique employed by stores involves discs that have been released by the same studio. March 22 saw the disc release of two high-profile theatrical titles from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment: The Tourist and How Do You Know.
Both Best Buy and Target are offering a $5 savings to consumers who purchase both films at the same time on either DVD or Blu-ray Disc. The Best Buy deal is a straight $5 discount from the purchase price, while Target is offering a $5 gift card with the joint purchase.
Walmart wasn’t pushing any big promotional deals but does have an exclusive Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo pack for the new “Peanuts” special Happiness Is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown, offered at $20. A $15 standalone DVD version also is available, with some Walmarts stocking the title a week prior to its March 29 street date.
Best Buy is offering a movie ticket for Paul or Your Highness with purchase of select titles, such as Role Models or Inglourious Basterds. Best Buy also has a “Flashback to the ’90s” TV DVD sale, with some titles as low as $9.99.
