Plenty of New Titles Arrive

8 Feb, 2011 By: John Latchem

A month into 2011, things are starting to pick up after a series of slow weeks in terms of new releases.

Feb. 8 saw several notable titles hit shelves, as the studio lineup of late-year horror movies continues to hit disc. The week saw not only Paranormal Activity 2 on DVD and Blu-ray, but also My Soul to Take.

Despite the breadth of new titles, retailers were muted on special promotions or exclusives for them.

Best Buy offered My Soul to Take as an exclusive Blu-ray/DVD special-edition combo at $16.99.

The only other notable exclusive came with Target’s version of the For Colored Girls DVD, which offered special featurettes with the cast of the Tyler Perry film.

Walmart had the exclusive release for Pure Country 2: The Gift, offered at $13 on DVD or $15 packed with the first film.

Best Buy heavily promoted a number of catalog DVD and Blu-ray titles for sale, with DVD titles at $4.99 and Blu-ray selections at $12.99. Another promotion offered $10 savings with the purchase of two Pixar DVDs at $19.99 each.
