Best Buy's 'Brave' Move30 Oct, 2012 By: John Latchem
Best Buy is gearing up for the Nov. 13 release of Disney/Pixar’s Brave by offering a free limited-edition collectible case with preorders of the film on Blu-ray. A $7.50 deposit is required.
Otherwise, the new-release slate for Oct. 30 was rather light. Target didn’t even bother to offer several of the new releases in its stores or online, including Sony Pictures’ Safety Not Guaranteed and Fox’s Ruby Sparks.
Target did offer an exclusive edition of the new Chuggington: Icy Escapades DVD with a free train toy.
Walmart offered DreamWorks’ new Kung Fu Panda Holiday DVD and Blu-ray a week earlier than its Nov. 6 wide-release date.
Shoppers looking for the new A Christmas Story 2 could get a DVD two-pack of the original film with the direct-to-video sequel at Walmart.
Best Buy offered a selection of scary-movie Blu-rays at $9.99 each, including Friday the 13th, The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Saw: The Final Chapter, Jennifer’s Body, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and more.
