Best Buy packed exclusives onto three new TV DVD products released Sept. 7, offering T-shirts with The Office: Season Six and Smallville: The Complete Ninth Season, and a key chain of a pewter car with Supernatural: The Complete Fifth Season.
Best Buy also had an exclusive Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for Universal’s MacGruber and offered $6 off the Camp Rock 2 DVD or Blu-ray when purchased with the soundtrack.
Even titles that aren’t out yet earned special promotions at Best Buy. Consumers who preorder Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition Blu-ray, due Oct. 5, can get a free limited-edition ironpack case. In addition, Best Buy is offering $5 CinemaNow cards with preorders for the Blu-rays of Robin Hood (due Sept. 21), Iron Man 2 (Sept. 28), Get Him to the Greek (Sept. 28), The Karate Kid (Oct. 5), How to Train Your Dragon (Oct. 15) and The Pacific (Nov. 2).
Target offered season six of “The Office” with a bonus disc containing two extended episodes, and the fifth season of “Supernatural” with a bonus DVD containing a 100th episode featurette. Target also offered $5 savings with the purchase of DVDs of both Solitary Man and Wall Street: Insider Trading Edition.
Walmart is offering steelbook Blu-ray discs for the “Resident Evil” movies for $15 apiece, timed with the theatrical debut of Resident Evil: Afterlife.
