Stars John Romer.

This fascinating British documentary series, which first aired in 1988, traces the history of the Bible as it relates to not only what inspired the stories in it, but also the events described, as well as how interpretations of the text influenced society throughout the ages.

Over the course of seven episodes, archeologist John Romer describes the archeological evidence associated with certain Biblical tales while visiting a multitude of relevant sites throughout the Middle East. The show enlightens with the modern flair of academia without the conspiratorial overtones better suited for The Da Vinci Code.

As designed, the Testament DVD should be a great teaching tool and includes a 20-page booklet containing a note from Romer, an episode guide and some discussion questions, like a mini teacher’s edition.
