Exhale: Core Fusion 30-Day Sculpt (DVD Review)1 Apr, 2012 By: Angelique Flores
Featuring Fred DeVito, Elisabeth Halfpapp.
One of the latest trends of fitness DVDs is to feature a program with a 30-day fitness challenge to get exercisers in shape — from the likes of Jillian Michaels, Jackie Warner and Jimmy Peña. OK, Peña’s is actually 33 days.
Well, husband-and-wife team Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp, the creators of “Core Fusion,” have their own 30-day program, with five weeks of workouts over 30 days. There’s one rest day built in to each week.
The workouts are made of 30 segments selected from four of the couple’s previously released DVDs from the past two years: Lean & Toned, Boot Camp, Yoga: Energy Flow and Cardio: Pure Intensity. Each day has a 20-minute workout, with two 10-minute segments from two different DVDs.
DeVito and Halfpapp lead exercisers in their gentle Core Fusion style that mixes Pilates, yoga and the Lotte Berk method. The result is a well-rounded workout plan that includes strength-training, stretching and cardio.
Weeks one and three focus on strength, while weeks two and four concentrate on cardio. Week five is a mix of both.
The cardio is low-impact, and DeVito and Halfpapp’s instructions are easy to follow — even if you’re new to their workouts or working out in general. The DVD works for beginners because of the modifications, and using heavier weights would make the workouts harder for intermediate levels.
The bonus features contain motivational tips on getting a better, safer workout for your body, as well as useful nutritional tips..
This is a great DVD to introduce new users to Core Fusion workouts. And for those who might already have all four of these discs, it’s a great way to revisit them and mix things up under a structured plan with increased variety.
