Report: Toshiba Prepping No-Glasses 3DTVs for 2010

24 Aug, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey

By the end of 2010, Toshiba will have autostereoscopic (no glasses) 3DTVs out in time for the holidays, according to a news report out of Japan Aug, 24 that online gadget site Electronista reported.

Pricing wasn’t included in the article, and it was not clear whether the 3DTVs would be available outside of Japan this year.

The article reports the sets would come in three different sizes and would be intended for consumer use. Currently glasses-free 3DTVs are used by retailers or advertisers but not by consumers.

Sources in the article reportedly said the new 3DTVs would require viewers to watch the TVs from certain angles to get the 3D experience, similar to current, non-consumer models.

Toshiba has not confirmed the report.
