The NCAA Final Four will be broadcast in 3D live at as many as 100 digital cinemas nationwide, as part of an agreement between CBS Sports and LG Electronics.
Fans living in Indianapolis also will be able to watch the April 3 and April 5 games live in 3D at Lucas Oil Stadium locations using LG LCD 3D HDTVs.
“CBS Sports has always been on the forefront of new technology to enhance the viewing experience,” said Ken Aagaard, EVP of operations and engineering for CBS Sports. “Through our partnership with the NCAA and LG, and the technological innovations of Cinedigm, we are excited to be able to present Men’s Final Four weekend in 3D offering fans an exciting and different way to view a major sporting event.”
Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. was the same company responsible for bringing the 2009 BCS Championship and the 2009 NBA All-Star Saturday Night events live in 3D to select theaters.
“The theater experience is changing dramatically,” said Bud Mayo, chairman and CEO of Cinedigm. “The Final Four is a signature event, with millions of fans clamoring to be among the few who get to see it in person.”
